  2. Hi Tiana,

Goodness, you're working very hard at the Summer Learning Journey - good for you! I'm reading your blog from my home in Canada but I have visited your beautiful country a number of times. My daughter, Rachel, and grandson, Aronui, live in Auckland, like you.

You took an interesting position in your slide show about whether or not students at university should pay tuition. Both points are valid - it is most fair, perhaps, that education be free because today's students will be tomorrow's workers. On the other hand, I think that students tend to work harder and care more about their education if they pay something for it. And they are being prepared for a career, as you say. So perhaps an idea is to have university education supported by the government but that students pay a portion of the costs. What do you think of that?

I hope you've had a really lovely summer holiday so far!!

These are some wonderful things you will need to pack you were going on a hike to a long and high mountain.

    Keep up the amazing work.

  4. Hey again Tiana, thanks for sharing the items you would bring on the Tongariro Crossing. You have chosen some very sensible things to bring. You will be well protected from the sun with a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. You'd definitely want strong sturdy boots that are hopefully comfortable too. The last thing you'd want to do is hike it in bare feet!
What do you think you might eat on the morning of the hike?

    Thanks, Billy
