My name is Daniel and I am part of the Summer Learning Journey program. Well done on completing your first Summer Learning Journey activity! It's great to see that you joined the program. You are kind of correct - our official languages do include English and Maori but sign language is also a official language here. Apart from that, your facts are great! I can't wait to see some more posts!
Welcome the Summer Learning Journey programme!!! I am so happy to see that you have joined again this year. This is awesome.
I can see that one of our team members, Daniel, has already commented on your activities and suggested that there is a third official language in New Zealand - sign language. I must admit that I didn't know that until I started to do some more research into New Zealand and realised that we have three official languages. That is quite unique, I think. In fact, I come from Canada where we only have two official languages - English and French. As a child I had to take classes in both languages. It was pretty fun!
Speaking of fun, I hope that you are having a great summer break so far! I am having a great time working on the Summer Learning Journey programme. I am learning so much and having some great conversations online with students around New Zealand. I hope that you'll be able to join us throughout the summer. I'll pop back soon to see if you have had time to complete another activity.
Hey Tiana, Great job on completing this activity! I like how you said something about not giving out personal information as there a lot of untrustworthy people online. Also, did you know that Aotearoa means "Land of the long white cloud", which is what the Maori first thought it was when they saw it during their voyages.
