Read Theory is a site that will make you improve, in reading. It is like an online reading test. But it lets your teacher know what stage you are at. Not only does it improve your reading skills, it also let's your teacher know where you stand in reading. 

Reading Task!

For our Reading today, we got set a task to do. Which was to read a book choose 2 reading task & we had to answer it but put it onto a google drawing.

Inference - Reading (Mahy)

For reading today we have groups. The group I am in is 'Mahy' what we have done was learn about 'Inference'. We were given sentences with answers we had to find out what the answer is by using the Keywords in the sentence.

Inferences - WHEN

Answer each question, highlight the keywords and justify why this keyword helps you to make the inference.

1. The first glint of light in the eastern sky was the signal for the soldiers to clamber from the shelter of their trenches.
   What part of the day was it?
   Morning  Keywords: First glint of light - Tells us that it is morning but early because ‘first glint of light’ will be the sun coming up which brings light.
   
   
2. With hunger gnawing at her stomach and the sun at its zenith, Barbara sought the shade of a small cafe.
   What part of the day was it?

Noon Keywords: Sun at its zenith - Tells us it is noon because the meaning of zenith means ‘it is the most powerful’ and it is talking about the sun and noon is the powerful part of the day with the sun.

3. Anna observed the seemingly endless flocks of birds migrating to a warmer climate and yearned to be going with them.
   What season was it?

Autumn Keywords: Birds migrating to a warmer climate - Tells us its Autumn

4. Having travelled so far, Doug was disappointed to find that he no longer recognised the village.
   Had Doug been in the village before? How do you know that?

Yes, because he doesn’t recognise the village anymore. Either because he hasn’t been there in ages or they changed the village around.

5. The house, which had once seemed so large and full of wonderful places for games of hid and seek, now seemed cramped and small.
   When had the writer been in the house before?

Long time ago

Keywords: Now seemed cramped and small - Tells us it has been a long time since he has been inside his house & touched it

Matariki Acrostic Poem - Reading

For Reading we were learning about Matariki and facts about Matariki. We were given a bunch of reading task cards to pick from. We choose four reading task, One reading task card I choose was 'Create an Acrostic Poem'. This is the Acrostic Poem I created.

Stellaluna - Reading with Miss Siale

For reading yesterday we had to read a book that was named 'Stellaluna' after we have read the book we were given lots of task and out of those task we had to choose 2. After we finished choosing the 2 task we had to complete them and create it into a slide.

Reading Task Cards! - Taniko Group

For reading we were given a book called Toitoi it had lots of different stories that students wrote. We had to choose one story and read it, then after that we were given reading task cards and we had to choose 3 reading task cards to complete.

'y' words - Phonics

For phonics today we focused on the sound 'ee' but spelt with a 'y' 

We had to write as many words as we know that ends with 'y' and that makes the 'ee' sound.

The Daring Donuts - Reading

For reading we are learning on our film for Manaikalani my group was onto our story boarding, now we are onto our filming! Our group name is The daring donuts our theme is comedy.
